Botswana Oil Limited (BOL) has reaffirmed its commitment to citizen economic empowerment and sustainable energy logistics with the launch of the Fuel Transportation Supplier Development Programme (FT-SDP), themed “Empowering Citizens, Driving Energy Excellence.”
The event brought together citizen fuel transporters, financial institutions, supply chain partners, and BOL leadership to strengthen collaboration and build a citizen-driven transport ecosystem for Botswana’s petroleum industry.
BOL Chief Executive Officer Mr Meshack Tshekedi described the FT-SDP as a milestone for both the company and the nation, noting that it supports economic diversification, job creation, and inclusive growth. The programme will enable citizen-owned enterprises to access contracts, financing, and capacity-building initiatives while promoting safe, efficient, and compliant fuel transportation.
Led by Ms Loungo Letshwiti, BOL’s Citizen Economic Empowerment Programme (CEEP) Specialist, the initiative focuses on developing the technical, operational, and compliance readiness of citizen-owned fuel transporters. It also strengthens HSSEQ culture, digital transformation, financial literacy, operational visibility, and governance.
A panel discussion moderated by Ms Phatsimo Moeti-Joel, Senior Manager – Risk, featured representatives from industry and finance, including Sky Bridge Logistics, FNB, and BOL. The session highlighted access to finance, improved operational standards, and stronger collaboration across the supply chain as critical enablers of transporter development.
Through the FT-SDP, BOL continues to lead citizen participation in Botswana’s energy sector – advancing empowerment, safety, and sustainable logistics for a stronger national fuel supply chain.
